Helena, Montana lies within a few miles of three large reservoirs on the Missouri River.  As a result, just outside of town is some of the finest boating and fishing in the Rocky Mountain West. 

 

Holter Lake is home to the Gates of the Mountains National Recreation Area.  This pristine wilderness was first discovered and named by Lewis and Clark in 1805.

Helena, Montana lies in the heart of the Rockies, ideally situated almost halfway in between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.  A few hour drive will place you at the gateway of either one of these national treasures.
